Customs: Russia raises wheat exports 26% to 23 mln tns in Jan-Nov
MOSCOW, Jan 13 (PRIME) -- Russia increased wheat and meslin exports by 25.8% on the year to 22.851 million tonnes in natural terms and by 11.24% to U.S. $3.8 billion in monetary terms in January-November 2016, the Federal Customs Service said on Friday.
Export to non-CIS countries rose by 13.9% to 21.611 million tonnes in natural terms and by 13.9% to U.S. $23.588 billion in monetary terms. Export to the CIS countries went up by 9.8% to 1.239 million tonnes, but fell by 19.9% to U.S. $212.2 million in monetary terms.
Russia’s wheat imports grew by 80% to 563,700 tonnes or by U.S. $86.8 million in the period, barley imports increased by 280% to 146,500 tonnes or by U.S. $18.2 million, and corn imports surged by 3.6% to 34,000 or by U.S. $112 million.
Russia produced a record 119.1 million tonnes of crops in 2016, including 73.3 million tonnes of wheat, and raised its export potential to 40 million tonnes.
